Child Rights Statement
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) consists of
54 Articles which seek to improve the lives of all children worldwide.
Some of the key areas that the CRC covers are:
- Non-discrimination:- Article 2 requires all countries to
apply the Convention to every child without discrimination.
- Survival and Development:- Article 6 states that every child
has the inherent right to life, and calls on countries to ensure
children's survival and development.
- Neglect and Abuse:- Article 19 requires children to be protected
from all forms of violence, abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
- Health and Nutrition:- Article 24 states that children have
the right to the highest standard of health care and nutrition
available.
- Standard of Living:- Article 27 calls on countries to recognise
the right of every child to a standard of living adequate for
physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development.
- Child Labour:- Article 32 requires that children are protected
from work that is exploitative, hazardous or interferes with
their education.
- Sexual Exploitation:- Article 34 states that children should
be protected from all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation.
- Armed Conflict:- Article 38 stipulates that States ensure
the protection and care of children affected by armed conflict.
